We are a leading medical recruitment agency across Australia and New Zealand, and our newest opportunity available is for a Senior Medical Officer – Emergency to be based in Shepparton, Victoria.


The client

Our client is a large government-funded regional health service providing acute, subacute, and community care to the Greater Shepparton region. The Emergency Department sees a high volume of presentations annually and is supported by an experienced team of consultants, registrars, nurses, and allied health. The hospital is known for its inclusive culture, strong clinical governance, and commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality emergency care to a diverse community.


The opportunity

This role offers the chance to step into a senior leadership and clinical position within a busy regional ED. You will provide advanced emergency medical care, support junior staff, contribute to clinical decision-making, and help drive continuous improvement within the department. The position offers a mix of hands-on clinical work and senior oversight, with opportunities to influence clinical pathways, education, and ED workflow.


Key responsibilities

• Provide high-level emergency medical care for acute and complex presentations

• Lead clinical decision-making and support medical and nursing staff

• Supervise, mentor, and train junior doctors and registrars

• Participate in trauma calls, resuscitations, and critical care management

• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to clinical governance standards

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support seamless patient care

• Contribute to ED quality improvement and clinical guideline development

• Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and ongoing education


Requirements

• Current AHPRA registration (or eligibility to obtain)

• FACEM desirable; senior non-FACEM doctors with extensive ED experience encouraged to apply

• Broad emergency medicine experience, including trauma and resuscitation

• Strong clinical leadership and mentoring capabilities

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced emergency environment
